MINI-PROFILE America, arguably, has been at the forefront in of the development of outdoor education since the Colorado Outward Bound School was started in the 1960's. In addition, America has had a 100 or so year history of summer camping programs for children. A large proportion of written literature about outdoor education has emerged from America and although there are sometimes strong critics of the American way, the USA remains undoubtedly as having the largest infrastructure of outdoor education organizations, staff and students. In addition, there are more outdoor education university departments and scholars in the USA than in any other country |
