The term ‘outdoor education’ doesn’t seem to have an exact equivalent in the German language. Kurt Hahn, a well-known German educator, was, however, one of key figures in the development of outdoor education in the twentieth century and contributed to a closely related approach “Erlebnispädagogik” (experiential learning), which is commonly applied in Germany. Some people nevertheless view experiential learning and outdoor education movements as still in their infancy in Germany.
