Experiential learning cycles (Kolb)
Most outdoor education and
adventure-based programs share a theoretical emphasis on experiential
learning principles (Dewey,
1938/1997; Kolb, 1984), although there is no clear agreement on which of the
several different types of
experiential learning cycles is most relevant to outdoor education,
although the three stage model, "do-review-plan" seems to best
satisfy the law of parsimony (the simplest of two or more theories is
preferable).
