Novel Environment

Several theories have emphasized that the novel environment, the novel activities, and the novel social settings, free a person up from normal constraints, so that more exploration can take place and there is more excitement and motivation due to the stimulation of the novel situations (e.g., Hattie, Marsh, Neill, & Richards, 1997; Luckner & Nadler, 1997; Walsh & Golins, 1976).
