• James Neill to submit long-awaited PhD on the LEQ.
  • Transfer all material to the wiki - transfer html content from LEQ and off-line content into this wiki.
  • Kara Sammet will be applying IRT (Item Response Theory) and some other useful techniques to analysis of LEQ data as part of her dissertation.
  • Four post-graduate diploma students in psychology at the University of Canberra are undertaking life effectiveness research projects.
  • Ndekezi Maarifa Vincent is working on a couple of LEQ-related projects:
    • Psychometrics of a customised LEQ-type tool targetted at peace building and conflict resolution variables of interest in the Rwandan context. These were developed to help research the Rwandan government's Ingando camps.
    • An LEQ-type tool for Outward Bound Rwanda
  • Outward Bound Singapore is conducting research on the effects of its programs using the Life Effectiveness Questionnaire.

  • A wiki site was established (because its easier to update and others can contribute - Web2.0 style :-)
  • Started to shift LEQ content from html and doc formats into the wiki - only about 10% done.
  • A discussion group on Google Groups was created to help manage support requests and information sharing.

  • The LEQ-H and ROPE/ROPLELOC become used by a variety of 10's to 100's of mainly outdoor education organisations for evaluating program outcomes.
  • Variations of the LEQ and ROPE are developed for different purposes (e.g., Youth at Risk, Corporate, observer measures), with a widely array of factors (e.g., self, social, and environmental outcomes), which can be measured by self-report and observers.
  • Organisations and users are encouraged to adapt and build their own tool, and to contribute items and data back to the public pool.

  • Garry Richards and James Neill develop the ROPELOC, a new alternative to the LEQ-H.

  • Confirmatory Factor Analysis was applied by Neill in 1995 to (mainly OBA) LEQ-G data (64-items, 11 factors). This lead to the development of a 24-item, 8-factor model, the LEQ-H. This is reported in Neill's phd (in progress).

  • Garry Richards drove the development of the LEQ (originally called Actuals and Aspirations) after dissatisfaction with a variety of personality and self-construct tools for assessing the effectiveness of Outward Bound Australia programs.
