- New Windows system set-up.
How to
- Build a disk and operating system (Win XP)
- Create three partitions
- Primary: c:/ NTFS 15Gb (WinXP)
- p:/ NTFS 20Gb (Programs)
- f:/ NTFS The rest (Files)
- Install WinXP on c:/
- Install drivers
- Customise (see below)
- Clone (Backup) c:/
Booting
Current hard drive boot order:
- SATA: ST31000528AS | CC38 | Disk 1 931.5 GB IDE(0) Primary Master
- SATA: ST3320620AS | 3.AA | Disk 4 298.1 GB | IDE(0) Secondary Mater
- SATA: ST3320620AS | 3.AA | Disk 2 | 298.1 GB | IDE(0) Primary Slave
- SATA: ST3200822AS | 3.01 | 186.3 GB | IDE(0) Secondary Master (decomissioned)
Note: After adding a new internal hard drive, on boot a system may show "NTDLR is missing" (can't find the operating system). In boot editor, Boot, change the hard drive order.
Then follow Formatting a Secondary Hard Drive, but first r. click the Disk # and initialise, then create a new partition on the new disk. (This step seems unnecessary if using cloning software).
